Daily Slideshow: The Porsche that Carries its Passengers to the Grave

We love Porsches. But nothing shows love for the brand than an actual hearse modeled after a popular Porsche car.

1. What is a Hearse?

If you're not aware, a hearse is the traditional vehicle, usually in the form of a wagon, used to transport the deceased in a coffin/casket to their funeral from the church and finally to their resting place in the graveyard. They are sometimes called funeral coaches.

2. Porsche Panamera

In case you didn't realize it, there are a plethora of models and versions of the Porsche Panamera, a 4 door luxury sedan. Everything from Executive to E-hybrid trims. The car was first introduced in 2009 at the Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in China. The Hybrid and diesel versions debuted in 2011 and in 2013, the US got the first plug-in Hybrid model. Configurations varied from a 3.6 V6 pushing over 300HP to the 4.8 V8 Twin Turbo boasting 550HP.

3. Enter Panamera as a hearse

Recently, there were a couple of sightings of such a vehicle that represented both a Panamera and hearse. So many questions have arisen. The main one being "Why?" Let's just hope the deceased was a Porsche lover of the grandest kind - til death did him/her part! Maybe they really wanted his/her final ride to be an elegant but sporty one. In this photo, it's not clear whether this is being delivered to the deceased's family to accommodate funeral services or if it was on its way to its own junkyard graveyard!

4. The Panamera hearse is real!

Later, a couple of other photos surfaced revealing that this vehicle was indeed produced and possibly used for its intended purpose. We can see here in this photo that it sits so beautifully on a showroom-like floor. The extended body could also lend a clue that perhaps it was meant to be a limousine of sorts?

5. Proof in the details

This picture probably most accurately represents this creation's true use as a hearse, one that would transport one of the most avid Porsche enthusiasts on one last ride with the song of the German-engineered V8. You could almost hear The Pretenders' The Last Ride playing over the Panamera's sound system as this one drives off into the sunset. Rest in Porsche.
