A Track-Purposed Wonder

Even after a rough start, once the 924 hit production it quickly became one of the highest-selling models for Porsche. Naturally, Porsche pushed the limits of its performance capabilities and took this front-engined wonder to Le Mans and thus the GTS Club Sport was born. Today, we spotlight this fine example of Porsche history found over at Road Scholars finished in classic Club Sport red.

Porsche Heritage

With only fifteen GTS ClubSports ever produced, this 924 is ultra-rare and its price tag reflects. Only four were taken to Le Mans and this one carries all of Porsche's classic race day goodies.

Destined for Le Mans

While this particular 924 hasn't seen any track time, The GTS ClubSport was purposely developed for Le Mans. It features upgraded turbos, all the lightweight treatment, like stripped door panels and thinner sliding windows as well as plenty of suspension upgrades to keep this 924 competitive with the best Europe had to offer.

Lets Talk Power-to-Weight

The GTS ClubSports turbo was boosted to get the 280hp out of this modest 2 liter. Combined with the extensive weight-saving efforts, this Porsche has the capability of doing 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 160 miles per hour. At the time, The 924 ClubSport was said to be the fastest production car Porsche had ever built.

Race-Bred Bones

On the inside, we see more of how purpose-built this 924 ClubSport really is. A Matter-fabricated alloy roll cage is in plain sight, adding more stiffness and capability to the trimmed weight of this track-focused Porsche.

Club Sport Greatness

With the low production numbers and racing heritage this 924 GTS carries, it's no wonder this classic Porsche carries such a hefty ticket price of $400,000 USD. This Le Mans veteran managed to punch well above it weight-class and hits all the essential boxes to give it its legendary status, so we say its a piece we'd gladly include in our garage.
