With the way Porsche prices are climbing, you would think there are only 911 of them left in the entire world. Here’s why the GT2 EVO is worth every penny…

Air cooling is so hot right now

The '90s were a golden era for sports cars. Seriously. Things are different now. Everything is electronic this and autonomous that. The 993 peaked just before Porsche switched to water cooled motors. It was the epitome of what an air cooled car could be. This GT2 EVO is the best of the best. Air-cooled cars are skyrocketing in price so it only makes sense a factory special version of the best air cooled 911 (yeah I said it) would fetch top dollar. It also makes 600hp and weighs around 2400lbs. That's a proper power to weight ratio if you ask me.

Mileage

Low mileage collector cars have tremendous value. At 4,350 miles you have to wonder what the hell this person was even doing owning one of these. How can you resist the lure of 600hp in a homologated racing car? This doesn’t just offer you a chance to own one of the rarest 911s on the planet, it offers you a chance to step back in time. This is the automotive equivalent of time travel. The chassis is still fresh. It hasn’t been worn out and abused and it was maintained correctly.

The 993 is the best Porsche ever made

I am going to put my neck out there and say that this is the best 911 ever made. You might ask why and I’m going to tell you why: they drive like nothing else. The 993 blends everything I want in a Porsche into 1 machine. I’ve driven a 500whp version of one of these and it blew my mind. They have a great blend of feeling like older 911s while being modern. The pedals were heavy, the car commanded respect, but it was refined. Imagining the purpose-built factory racing version of this car excites the same part of my brain as a room full of supermodels.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION

I put this in caps for a reason. Yes, PDK is an amazing piece of technology. Yes, it is going to be faster on a race track. No, it is not going to make you feel like a man. Unfortunately, with the death of the manual in favor of technology so easy your dentist can be a track day hero we are losing something in the automotive community: balls. This car requires balls to drive and a lot of dedication. That is valuable. Even if the person who owns this car never tracks it there is something really important about the days when men were men. We all look at guys who drove the 917 and say “Wow, they must have been crazy.” People are going to look back at some point and go “Wow, guys who had to shift gears were really talented.” It just adds that much more value to this car.

Factory Race Car

Porsche factory race cars have ridiculous amounts of value. You can buy a Formula 1 car from the early 90s for way less than this. That’s saying something. There is history in this brand like no other manufacturer on earth. People love these cars and they love them because Porsche does it right. They just do. Anyone who doesn’t understand why this car is over 7 figures just doesn’t get it. I would have outbid this person if I was a bazillionaire because I don’t care. I want to wake up every day knowing that I have a GT2 EVO in my garage that I can drive whenever I want. Only 11 were made so its exclusivity piles on the commas.

It’s crazy to think someone is willing to spend this amount of money on a 993 GT2 EVO, but is it really? When you look at the cars available today vs. the cars available in the 90s is it that hard to see why they have tremendous value? And on that note, I’m going to call the bank to see if I can get a loan for a 993 Turbo. In 20 years time, it ought to be just as valuable as a house. Cheers guys!
