Chris Competent

Chris Harris is competent and skillful when it comes to every aspect of precision driving: he can drift, he can clock respectable lap times, and he can relay information to a viewer while he is doing both of these things (it’s a lot harder than you think). So we know he’s not a careless driver and that’s good…

A466

… because it happened on a public road called ht A466. All that is known is that a truck was doing a 3-point turn and the Porsche ended up smashed into the side of that truck. For insurance purposes, no pictures have been posted to social media with the only explanation being offered by Harris via Instagram.

Everyone Was Ok

No injuries occurred to anyone involved, which means Top Gear is still on—yes. However, no word on the car or how extensive the damage was, though it’s certainly not going to be cheap. Even though police determined speed wasn’t a factor we do know that a GT3 is capable of slowing down rather quickly.

Road Profile

As of right now, the incident sounds like it happened during the filming of an episode for Top Gear. The profile of the road is a back country b-road with little run off and a lot of trees. Not the type of place you would want to go off to avoid a collision. Thankfully, this is one journalist who takes his driving serious and was able to get out of harms way.

On With the Show

Thinking about how many famous people have been seriously injured or harmed in sports cars, it’s good to hear of one incident that was fairly minor. The Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond had a bad high-speed accident that left the motoring world on pins and needles while we waited to hear if he was going to be in a coma. Just another reminder to be extra careful on the street and leave fast driving to the race track. We’re glad Chris is ok, and look forward to seeing him on the TV screen soon.
