Many of us grew up with posters of the mighty 930 Turbo on our walls, not to mention memories of watching them speed around on TV and in music videos. So when we saw this incredible black 930 up for grabs over at Mecum Auctions, you can bet we were flooded with fond memories.

Used Sparingly

While every 930 is special in our book, this particular car is one of just 530 produced for the 1976 model year. And with just 46,000 miles on the clock, it's been used sparingly since then as well.

Bare Shell Resto

Still, the seller put this beauty through an extensive restoration that reportedly cost over $50,000. It started with taking the car down to bare metal and redoing that familiar black paint to perfection.

Making Power

The car's U.S.-spec 3.0-liter flat-six engine was also completely rebuilt, along with the rest of the drivetrain. In this configuration, it produced 234 hp at 5,500 rpm, with a lofty 6,800 rpm redline.

Race Inspired

The bulletproof mill is backed up by a 4-speed manual transmission. Much of the rest of the car's mechanicals were developed from the 917 racer, including rear hubs, bearings, and suspension arms.

Finding Inspiration

The Carrera RS and RSR provided inspiration for the 930's flared-fenders and whale tail, as well as the suspension geometry, vented disc brakes, and damping.

Luxurious Insides

At the time, the 930 was also the most luxurious 911 to date. The interior featured leather, air conditioning, and deep cut pile carpeting, to name a few.

Additional features on this black beauty include Turbo-spec Fuchs wheels, Kumho radial tires, halogen headlights, bolstered leather Sport seats, an electric sunroof, and power windows.
