Ultra Clean 1983 911 SC Makes a Case For Simplicity

Like a time warp from the '80s, this slantnose 911 impresses with just how clean it is, not with a bunch of crazy mods.

Keep It Simple

Wild, flashy paint jobs and giant wheels certainly have their place in the world. But when it comes to classic Porsches, we tend to prefer a simpler approach. And sure, this 1983 911 on sale at Classic Auto Mall is fitted with a slantnose body kit, but we're still digging the fact that it's wearing a simple black paint job and some cool wheels, and little else.

Trends Change

The slantnose treatment is a somewhat controversial one among Porsche fans, but back in this era, it was all the rage. Some folks simply didn't care for the safety bumpers of the time, so doing this conversion was a great way to rid the car of them. Things have changed, however, and today folks have embraced the SC and its big old bumpers.

Symbol of Success

This 911 was a crown jewel back in its time, however - a symbol of success. We can imagine some big shot Wall Street banker leaving their job after a successful day of trading, hopping in this bad boy, dropping the top, and enjoying the sounds of its air-cooled flat-six all the way home.

Ultra Sanitary

Speaking of Porsche's iconic powerplant, this one looks incredibly clean sitting in an equally tidy engine bay. It only offers up 180 horsepower, but that's more than enough to have some fun when paired with a five-speed manual transmission and this chassis.

Clean Cabin

Things are equally clean inside the cabin, which is covered in black and gray materials for a nicely contrasted appearance. The seats, carpet, dash, and everything else appears to be in tip-top shape as well. The previous owner has added a couple of aftermarket parts here, including a Momo steering wheel and extra gauges in the A-pillar.

Dressed To Impress

The other major noticeable upgrade is a set of 17-inch Fiske forged wheels with wider tires to fill up those new fenders. But like the rest of the car, they're somewhat subtle in appearance, with a classic five-spoke design that's simply timeless. And since the car has just 76k miles on the clock, it should impress for many more years to come.

Tasteful Example

Some would rightfully argue that this 911 would be better off with stock bodywork, and we'd be hard-pressed to argue that fact. But we can also appreciate this 911 for what it is - a super clean, tasteful example of what used to be the car everyone wanted to own.
