Reclamation Project

As anyone who spends any time on YouTube these days already knows, supercar salvage auto repair is the new hot trend. And there are lots of cool wrecked cars out there for the taking, just waiting for someone to restore them to their former glory. So when we came across this 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS at Copart, it had us dreaming of our own reclamation project.

Risky Business

Buying any car from a salvage auction obviously comes with its fair share of risk. After all, sometimes you just don't know what lies underneath that mangled sheet metal, and other times people work hard to hide damage in the photos. But from what we can tell, this Porsche doesn't look too terrible the way it's positioned.

One Tiny Problem

In fact, until you get to the front driver's side, this car looks pretty dang good. The front fender and bumper were pretty much destroyed in some sort of accident, which is really no big deal. But it does look like the front frame rails were bent as well, which is obviously a bigger problem.

Pro Job

Still, we've seen plenty of frame-damaged supercars get fixed up and back on the road. And if you got this one cheap enough, it would be well worth the effort given its high original price tag. Getting the frame straight to the point where everything lines up perfectly and the car is safe to drive again is best left to a professional, however, not a DIY'er.

Many Considerations

Of course, the car has a salvage title and the airbags have deployed, so it'll never be worth as much as a clean used example. But if you're just looking to get behind the wheel of an amazing car and save some serious dough in the process, this might be your opportunity.

Good News

And that's pretty much all the bad news we have to share about this GT3 RS. The car reportedly runs and drives, which is fantastic news. Oftentimes, these wrecked cars also have some sort of damage to the drivetrain, so no worries there.

Blazing Speed

This is also a PDK-equipped car, which means it's blazing fast. With 520 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque on tap from its 4.0-liter flat-six, it'll do 0-60 in just 2.9-seconds and reach a top speed of 194 mph. And you're also getting a highly track-capable car right out of the box as well.

Rare Opportunity

It's interesting that the insurance company chose to not repair this Porsche, but that is often the case when a car's frame is bent or structural integrity is lost in an accident. But if you're brave enough to take on the unknown, this 911 might just make you the owner of the world's cheapest practically new GT3 RS.
