Performance Bargain

It's no secret that the 911 Turbo is, and always has been, one of the biggest performance bargains on the planet. Granted, the 992 911 Turbo S isn't exactly cheap with a starting MSRP of over $200k, but it's still a bargain compared to its rival supercars that cost quite a bit more and offer less in terms of performance. And that's clearly on display in this drag race between a 992 911 Turbo S, Ferrari 488 Pista, and Lamborghini Aventador SV recently conducted by YouTubers carwow.

Out of the Box

The 911 Turbo has become the drag racer's ride of choice in recent years thanks to its brutal acceleration. In stock form, the car makes 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which flows to all four wheels for what Porsche claims is a 2.7 0-60 romp, though others have gotten there in as little as 2.2 seconds. However, this particular 911 isn't stock.

Power Game

Rather, its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six has been modified to make an astounding 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, which helps it surpass its foes in this particular test. The 488 Pista Piloti retails for over $500k and offers up 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8, for starters.

Other Considerations

Then we have the $500k Aventador SV, which has a 6.5-liter, naturally-aspirated V12 that is rated to produce 740 horsepower and 507 pound-feet of torque. The Porsche and Lambo are all-wheel-drive, while the Ferrari is rear-wheel-drive, and these cars tip the scales at around 3,600, 3,400, and 3,000 pounds, respectively, so one might imagine this drag race would be quite interesting to watch. And you'd be right.

Blowout Victory

Unfortunately for Ferrari and Lambo fans, this race isn't terribly competitive, however. The 911 simply stomps its competition in the first drag race, while the traction-challenged Ferrari overtakes the Lambo for second place. The Porsche winds up recording a 9.7-second quarter-mile (much slower than it should be running), with the other two lagging roughly a second behind.

Roll Races

Thus, carwow decides to run a roll race next, with all cars in normal driving modes. However, the results are exactly the same as before. So they do it again, but this time with Sport mode engaged on the supercar trio. The Ferrari actually takes the lead in this race for a second before the Porsche edges it out at around the 170 mph mark.

Flawless Victory

Adding insult to injury, the 911 Turbo S also wins the braking test, sending its Italian foes home with their proverbial tails tucked. It's a dominant showing by the mighty Porsche, but also something that we've simply come to expect by now.
