All three of these cars are undoubtedly quick, but one is much quicker than the rest.

Three Way Drag Race

These days, those that crave quick acceleration quite simply have it made. Today's performance vehicles are insanely fast, with the Porsche Taycan and 992 911 Turbo S near the top of the heap in terms of 0-60 times. In this video from Motorsport Magazine, we get to see these two Porsches take on another newcomer - the Audi RS 6 Avant - in a pretty cool three-way drag race with interesting results.

Conservative Numbers

The 992 Turbo S needs no introduction, really. It's powered by Porsche's latest twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 that produces 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which flows through a PDK dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels for what Porsche says is a 2.6-second 0-60 time and 10.5-second quarter-mile. Of course, as we all know, those numbers are quite conservative.

Electric Power

Meanwhile, the Taycan Turbo S uses its dual electric motors to generate 750 horsepower and 774 pound-feet of torque, which also flows to all four wheels to propel the sedan to 60 miles-per-hour in 2.6 seconds, per Porsche. In the real world, that time is a couple of tenths quicker, however.

Unusual Pairing

Finally, we have the Audi RS 6 Avant, which is somewhat of an underdog in this fight thanks to the fact that it's a wagon that weighs nearly 5,000 pounds. Regardless, it's also packing a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which will take it from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, per Audi, or around 3.1 seconds in the real world.

Unsurprising Start

So how do these three performance machines match up in this runway drag race? Pretty much how you might expect, actually. The Taycan gets the jump off the line thanks to its immediate torque, while the 911 and the RS 6 Avant are fairly even at the start. But it doesn't take long for the latest version of Porsche's Turbo S to find its footing.

Rocketing Ahead

The 911 winds up blowing the doors off both of these vehicles after the start, as we'd expect, while the Taycan loses a bit of steam on the top end, as all-electric vehicles seem to do. In the 0.62-mile race, the 911 crosses the finish line in 18.9 seconds, the Taycan in 19.7 seconds, and the RS 6 Avant in 21.3 seconds.

Similar, but Different

These three cars might be very different on paper, but in reality, they're all modern-age takes on fast grand touring machines. The 911 might be the exception here since it isn't really suitable for four people and only has two doors, but it has a reputation for being a reliable and comfortable supercar. It also just so happens to be insanely quick, too.
