Movie Star

The 964 911 Turbo is a valuable enough machine in its own right, having attracted scores of fans in recent years that covet the beloved and now-dead air-cooled Porsche. Thus, this 1994 model that's going up for grabs at Mecum's Kissimmee, Florida auction next month would likely sell for big money as-is, but this one is also a big-screen movie star that appeared in the hit 1995 film "Bad Boys."

Personal Ride

Starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, "Bad Boys" turned into such a massive hit that it spawned three total movies. But this particular 911 also earned its spot on the big screen in the first flick, playing a prominent and memorable role. Amazingly enough, it also came from the personal collection of car-lover and director Michael Bay.

Rare Ride

"The studio didn't want to rent a car and we didn't have the money to rent one. And Porsche didn’t want to support the movie," Bay said. Thus, he dipped into his personal collection and pulled out this stunning 964 911 Turbo, which is one of just 1,427 built and 350 imported into the U.S. for the 1994 model year.

Famous Machine

After starring in the film and some memorable chase scenes, the vintage Porsche was later sold to producer Pat Sandstone, who also worked on the movie, and later Matthew Drendel, a well-known collector and Porsche fanatic. As for the car itself, it's become a bit famous and has spawned quite a few discussions across the internet.

Freshly Renovated

This 911 was restored by Body Motion in New Jersey in 2006 and show prepped by Road Scholars in 2020, and thus, looks no worse for wear today. The black-on-black Turbo still wears the French front license plate seen in the movie reading "447 DB 75," while the rear plate reads "BAD BYS1."

Big Time Performer

This 911 is still powered by its original 3.6L 6-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission and has traveled just 34,396 miles since new. With 355 horsepower on tap, it was capable of reaching 60 miles-per-hour in just 4 seconds flat, while completing the quarter-mile in 12 seconds, with a 175 mph top speed.

Won't Come Cheap

Over the years, this amazing Turbo has racked up numerous awards including a First Place finish at the 2014 Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance, a First Place Award at the 2015 French Lick Porsche Parade, the Weissach Award, the Zuffenhausen Award, First Place at the 2016 Jay Peak Concours d’Elegance, and a First Place ranking at the 2017 Amelia Island Concours Werks Reunion. Now, this "Bad Boy" 911 is looking for a new home, but it won't come cheap, with an auction estimate of between $1.5-$1.7 million.
