Long List

It goes without saying that the Porsche 911 is easily one of the most iconic vehicles ever to grace this earth, as well as one of the longest-lasting. The 2024 model year marks 60 years of production for the beloved sports car, in fact, which enjoys one of the broadest lineups in the automotive world these days, to boot. Thus, we're taking a look at every single 911 one can possibly buy today, which - as it turns out - is a pretty long list.

Carrera

Starting at the base end of the 911 lineup, we have the Carrera, which is available in a number of trims including the regular Carrera, Carrera T, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 Cabriolet, Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet, and the 4S and 4S Cabriolet. The base engine for this particular model is the turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six coupled with the PDK dual-clutch transmission, while the S gets more power and a no-cost manual option. As for the other nomenclature, "4" designates all-wheel drive models, while Cabriolets are convertibles.

Targa

The Targa is an iconic model within the 911 lineup itself, offering customers an opening roof panel with a folding mechanism rather than a full-blown convertible. The Targa can be had in a total of five guises - Targa 4, Targa 4S, Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, Targa 4 GTS, and the 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design.

GTS

For those that crave a bit more performance, the GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) lineup offers just that in the form of standard PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) and a bit more power from the base flat-six. The GTS is offered in a variety of guises including Carrera, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera 4, Carrera 4 Cabriolet, and Targa 4, with either the manual or PDK gearboxes.

Turbo

Though the base 992 Carrera utilizes turbochargers - which didn't use to be the case - the mighty 911 Turbo still stands several notches above that model in terms of performance, as well as looks, thanks to its wide bodywork. However, from there, buyers can opt for the regular Turbo in coupe or Cabriolet form, or the more powerful and capable Turbo S in either guise, too.

GT3

For those who want the ultimate in terms of on-track performance rather than straight-line acceleration, the GT3 is the choice - along with the purist's preference. Shoppers can get the winged GT3 or the non-winged GT3 Touring in that sense, or opt for the utterly insane, ultimate track weapon in the relatively new GT3 RS.

Sport Classic

Next up, we have the Sport Classic, which is a limited-edition model based on the 911 Turbo, but only with the seven-speed manual and rear-wheel drive. It's a perfect combination for those who prefer an old-school driving experience, but the Sport Classic is also limited to just 1,250 units and will likely be difficult to find without paying a premium on top of the sticker price.

Dakar

Another newer addition to the 911 lineup is the Dakar, which celebrates the 911's off-road rally past with something extra special for Porsche fans. The Dakar is based on the GTS but has received a suspension lift, along with off-road-focused tires and underbody protection for one seriously cool - and desirable - combination.

911 S/T

Finally, we have the latest addition to the 911 lineup - the S/T - which gets its name from the legendary Group 4 911 racers from the 1970s. The S/T shares some things in common with the GT3, but is only available with a manual gearbox and trades that model's aero for lightweight bits like carbon fiber body panels and magnesium wheels, with a focus on lightness. The only problem is, that this nod to the 911's 60th birthday is limited to 1,963 units and it won't be easy to obtain, for certain.
