Red Hot Ride

Air-cooled Porsches have been hot collectibles for years now, and that doesn't figure to end any time soon. Case in point - this red hot, 38k-mile '86 Porsche 911 Turbo that we recently came across at Bring a Trailer. Despite being a "safety bumper" car, this beautiful machine raked in well over $100k at auction. And it's well worth taking a much closer look at, too.

Little Use

This gorgeous Turbo was originally sold as part of the Tourist Delivery program and delivered to the principal of Tom McGann Imports in Madison, Wisconsin. In the years since it's lived with a handful of owners, none of whom apparently drove it very much. But as a result, the car remains in absolutely stunning condition today.

Looks that Kill

The Guards Red 911 has pretty much every styling element you want in Porsche from this period - that giant whale tail spoiler, those Fuchs wheels. This particular car is also equipped with a power sunroof, and sports some newer Bridgestone Potenza RE11 tires that measure 205/55 up front and 245/45 out back.

Few Amenities

The interior is finished in black leather that perfectly complements the exterior. And it too is in fantastic condition for its age. Some of the amenities here include heated and power-adjustable front seats, electric windows, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo.

Very Original

You'll also find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Turbo-script floor mats, and of course, just 38k-miles showing on the odometer. This 911 is very much original, and comes with a certificate of authenticity, along with a handful of Concours awards as well.

Numbers Matching

Under the hood, you'll find a turbocharged and intercooled 3.3-liter flat-six that was originally rated at 282 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 278 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The only non-original component here is an aftermarket exhaust, which was installed by the previous owner. Both the engine and the four-speed gearbox are numbers-matching originals.

Great Buy

Overall, this gorgeous Guards Red 911 Turbo looks to be worth every penny it brought at auction. With an unbeatable color combination and very low mileage, this sure looks like a fantastic buy. And we're betting that the new owner is more than a little happy with their purchase, as we certainly would be!
