Million Dollar Restomod

Along with some other notable Porsche restomod builders, Gunther Werks has earned a reputation for churning out some truly beautiful and stunningly detailed 911s over the years, though as most are well aware, such masterful creations don't come cheap. However, this 993 Porsche 911 is one of just 25 such cars to emerge from Gunther Werks' shop, and it's expected to fetch over a million bucks when it crosses the block at RM Sotheby's upcoming Monterey sale.

"New" 993

The 993-gen 911 has quickly become everyone's favorite, and that includes restomod makers like Gunther Werks. Its body style makes the perfect canvas for a little modernizing, and the results, well, they speak for themselves in this case. In fact, if we were to imagine what a brand new 993 might look like, well, this would probably be it.

Reworked Powerplant

Aside from having drop dead gorgeous looks, this particular restomod has been enhanced and upgraded in every other conceivable way. That includes under the hood, where you'll find a fortified 3.6-liter flat-six that's been punched out to 4.0 liters and reworked by the folks at Rothsport Road and Race, with the result being more than 400 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque..

Impressive Performance

That power flows to the rear wheels via a Getrag G50 six-speed transmission that's been beefed up with a lightened flywheel, fortified internals, and the clutch from a 997.2 GT3 RS, which also makes the car one serious performer. In fact, Randy Pobst previously achieved a best lap time of 1:30.99 at Laguna Seca, which is merely two-tenths of a second behind the mighty McLaren P1's time.

Luxurious Cabin

Inside the cabin, Gunther Werks retains around 20 percent of the original interior - which is refreshed with brand new Porsche parts - while the other 80 percent is completely custom and created in-house. In this case, cognac aeronautical leather covers many surfaces, which mixes nicely with an abundance of carbon fiber trim.

Lightweight and Gorgeous

As for the body itself, Gunther Werks also makes heavy use of carbon fiber with the intentions of shaving as much weight as possible, and that's certainly true here. Along with a mixture of black, the lightweight composite material is visible in all types of lighting, and features a special blend of colors and gold flake to give it a unique look.

Skip the Line

Add it all up, and you've got what may be the best-looking 993 restomod on the planet, which is obviously a bold claim given this car's stiff competition. However, we don't doubt for a second that someone will step up and pay the big bucks needed to bring it home, because these days, the waiting list for these cars is years-long - so why wait if you have the means to nab this one right off the auction block?
