Special Exhibit

The Porsche Museum has hosted its fair share of notable events over the years, and in all fairness, it has plenty to celebrate given the brand's three-quarters of a century in existence. However, its most recent exhibit was a bit different than most, as it took place during the renowned Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in the gardens of the Grumello and Sucota villas on Lake Como in Italy.

Special Celebration

As one might imagine, this year, that space was dedicated to Porsche's 75th anniversary, and as such, contained a whopping 40 special cars from that same manufacturer. It represented the biggest-ever open-air exhibition hosted by Porsche Heritage and Museum, and even better, the whole thing was open to the public.

Eclectic Mix

That special lineup included a Porsche 550 Spyder, a 1963 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GT, the French Grand Prix-winning 804 Formula 1, the championship-winning 908/02 Spyder, and a modern-day Formula E all-electric racer, too.

Notable Rides

Those models were joined by the famous 1972 Porsche 917/30 Spyder, a 1998 911 GT1, plus the newer 918 Spyder, 718 GT4 RS, and a rare 935. Other notable rides include the Vision 357, the one millionth 911, 356 A 1600 Speedster, 911 2.2 S Targa, 964 Carrera RS, and the brand new 911 Dakar.

Enthusiast Owned

In addition to the cars owned by Porsche itself, fans of the brand were also on hand to give attendees even more precious metal to scope out in the flesh. That list included a 911 R of the 991 generation and a 911 GT2 RS Clubsport of the 991 generation from Manthey-Racing, plus a 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and a 356 Speedster from 1956.

Ideal Setting

"The incredible atmosphere offers the ideal setting in which to present exceptional cars from the past 75 years to fans, but also to those people who, with their dreams and courage, played their part in writing the success story of our brand," said Achim Stejskal, Head of Porsche Heritage and Museum at Porsche AG.

Dream Come True

"I have a very special place in my heart for Porsche sports cars, so I am delighted that Porsche is celebrating its 75th anniversary at this year’s ‘Fuori Concorso Open Museum,'" added Guglielmo Miani, President of Milanese luxury brand Larusmiani. "After last year’s ‘Fuori Concorso Sonderwunsch’, where we succeeded in bringing together some of the rarest hand-built and customized Porsche sports cars, this exhibition at the ‘Fuori Concorso Open Museum’ is a dream come true.”
