Unveiled at Rennsport Reunion 7

Porsche, in collaboration with TAG Heuer and Porsche Latin America, recently unveiled two limited-edition 718 Cayman GT4 RS models at the prestigious Rennsport Reunion 7 event. These exclusive cars, born out of Porsche's 'Sonderwunsch' program, pay tribute to the historic Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico, mirroring the iconic 550 Coupes that participated in the 1953 event.

Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7 Highlights

Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7, held at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, attracted a massive crowd of approximately 91,000 attendees. This event served as a significant platform for Porsche to showcase its past, present, and future in motorsport. A standout feature was the collaboration between Porsche and TAG Heuer, which has transformed from a longstanding motorsport partnership into an exclusive car project centered around the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

The Essence of Carrera Panamericana

The two one-off 718 Cayman GT4 RS models, numbered 154 and 152, draw inspiration from the 550 Coupes that participated in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana race. Both cars feature Le Mans Silver Metallic paint, with racing numbers ('152' and '154') adorning their doors and roofs in vibrant yellow, reminiscent of the original 550 Coupe race cars. These unique designs pay homage to the historical significance of the Carrera Panamericana race.

Interior Highlights

Inside the exclusive 718 Cayman GT4 RS models, the fusion of heritage and innovation becomes evident. Guards Red leather graces the seats, contrasting elegantly with black leather on the door panels, dashboard, and center console. Tricolored cross-stitching, mirroring the colors of the Mexican flag, embellishes the steering wheel and dashboard. The highlight of the interior is the TAG Heuer stopwatch module, offering both a clock and a stopwatch, adding a touch of racing-inspired functionality to the cabin.

TAG Heuer’s Carrera Chronograph Connection

The collaboration between Porsche and TAG Heuer gains additional significance through the connection with the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, introduced 60 years ago to honor the Carrera Panamericana race. The exclusive 718 Cayman GT4 RS models serve as a testament to the shared history, innovation, and passion for racing that define both brands, making them a cherished gift to Porsche enthusiasts in Latin America.

Car Number 152’s Journey

While car number 154 made its debut at Rennsport Reunion 7, the slightly distinct model, number 152, will participate in this year’s Carrera Panamericana race. After its journey on the historic roads of Mexico, car number 152 will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting a charitable cause. This noble endeavor adds a philanthropic dimension to the collaboration, making these exclusive Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS models not just remarkable cars but also instruments of positive change.
