Swimming With the Fishes

Auto theft is a crime that has long plagued this earth, and there's nothing worse for an enthusiast, outside of a crash, perhaps. While stolen vehicles are sometimes recovered in unharmed condition, this isn't usually the case, as thieves don't care if they damage or destroy our beloved rides. That was certainly the case in Mason County, Washington recently when a person flying a drone discovered a Porsche Panamera submerged in a local lake, according to Fox 13 News.

Water Rescue

After spotting the sunken Panamera, the citizen notified the Mason Country Sheriff's Office, who proceeded to head to Jiggs Lake - outside of Belfair. They were accompanied by the Mason County Search and Rescue dive team, which was able to extract it from the lake.

Water Logged

After a little research, police quickly discovered that this poor Porsche Panamera was stolen from the owner in Kings County recently, though we imagine that at this point, the owner will probably pass on taking it back. Given how bad it looks, they'd probably prefer an insurance check over the water-logged machine.

Unknown Fate

After removing the Panamera from the Jiggs Lake, the Sheriff's Office had it towed to a local wrecking yard. It's unclear what fate awaits this poor Porsche, but we imagine it won't be a good one. Perhaps it will be sold at auction, where someone can try to rescue it, but water does some terrible things to cars - especially newer ones full of electronic goodies.

Strange Occurence

Thankfully, this is at least the first time the Mason Country Sheriff's Office says it has recovered an underwater Porsche, so at least this kind of thing hasn't become a trend just yet. Generally, vehicles get flooded by weather events, not when people drive them into lakes, and we'd love to hear how this Panamera ended up there.
