Ultra Light

Known for their work in the realm of racing and street performance, UK-based tuner Tuthill Porsche has taken their winning formula to their newest road-going restomod creation, the 911K. Based on the 930-generation of the Porsche 911, the 911K uses ultra-lightweight materials to ensure this sports car can hang with the fastest cars on the market today.

Whole Lotta Carbon

This new addition to the world of restomod Porsches is built onto what used to be a 1973 Porsche 911 S. It utilizes a host of carbon fiber parts to replace the original body panels to reduce mass. These include the roof, the doors, the front and rear quarter panels, the trunk lid, and the bumpers.

11K RPM

Popping the lid at the back will also reveal carbon fiber coverings within the engine compartment. Speaking of the engine, this beauty is equipped with a 3.1-liter short-stroke four-valve engine with a gnarly rev limit of 11,000. The screaming motor is paired with a magnesium six-speed 915K transmission.

Saving Weight

Other lightweight elements include carbon Fuchs-style wheels and carbon ceramic brakes, improving the unsprung mass. Additionally, the torsion bars, anti-roll bars, half roll cage, and shift lever knob are all made of titanium. The weight-saving efforts continue inside the cabin with a full titanium rear roll cage, carbon fiber seats trimmed in Ultra Fabric upholstery. All told, the 911 K has a curb weight of just 1,874 lbs. That's nearly 500 lbs lighter than the already trimmed-down 911 it's based on.

More to Come

Not many other specifications have been announced about the Tuthill Porsche 911K as of this writing. But it'd be a safe bet that this little rocket is going to be a blast to drive around the race track. “This one is for the drivers and quite honestly, I never imagined it could ever be what it has already become, and we’ve only just started,” remarked Richard Tuthill about the exciting venture.
