Sweet Sounds

The current 911 GT3 Cup was also the first 992-gen GT3 car to be revealed late last year, and now, its racing career has begun in the newly revamped Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series and Porsche Carrera Cup. But while these cars were undergoing a bit of testing at the Monza circuit recently, YouTuber 19Bozzy92 got some great footage of the GT3 Cup doing its thing and sounding amazing in the process.

Full Volume

There are many, many different 911 GT3 Cup cars to soak in during this just short of 16 minutes of footage, wearing all kinds of different liveries. But since there over 20 teams competing in this year's Mobil 1 Supercup, that's to be expected. Even better, in this spec, the cars are also pretty much uncorked in terms of exhaust, so we get to hear those glorious flat-sixes at full volume.

Getting Wider

As for the cars themselves, the 992-gen 911 GT3 Cup brings about a whole host of changes, which is no surprise given the fact that the latest road-going 911 is quite different from its predecessor. That includes a body that's 1.1 inches wider, with an RSR-derived double-wishbone front suspension with uniball bearings.

Losing Weight

The new car has also received a host of aerodynamic tweaks that help keep it glued to the ground, including its RSR-style, 11-stage, "swan neck" rear wing. As for the body itself, Porsche focused more on lightweight aluminum, using that material for 70 percent of the GT3 Cup's structure. Meanwhile, carbon fiber reinforced plastic was used to craft the hood, wing, and doors.

Overhauled Cabin

The GT3 Cup's cabin has been redesigned as well, with a focus on ergonomics. There are even varying levels of seat padding to suit every type of driver, as well as height adjustment. The steering wheel is all-new as well, made from carbon fiber and filled with a host of buttons that are complemented by a new 10.3-inch monitor.

Flat-Six Power

The newest cup car is powered by Porsche's 4.0-liter flat-six that cranks out 510 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque, utilizing a dry-sump oiling system, a common sight in race cars to prevent starvation in high g corners. Bosch's MS 6.6 electronic engine management system keeps things operating as intended, while the driver selects gears via a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Up Next

Following last week's debut in Monte Carlo, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is headed to Australia's Red Bull Ring on June 25-27 and July 2-4. And if you haven't tuned in to see these glorious new racers compete yet, it'll be well worth the watch.
