Porsche Teams Up With Fashion Designer For Custom 968 Build

Porsche and fashion have long gone hand-in-hand, and the automaker has celebrated this deep connection on numerous occasions with a variety of collaboration projects. The lastest is this - the 968 L'ART, which was a joint project between Porsche, the Parisian fashion label L'Art De L'Automobile, and its founder, Arthur Kar.

True Art

Fittingly, the 968 L'ART made its public debut at this year's Paris Fashion Week and was subsequently on display as part of a special art installation in the Marais district of the French capital for a few weeks afterward. It took a grand total of 18 weeks to create the one-off custom, which also coincides with the 968's 30th anniversary.

Modern Flair

The design of the 968 L'ART echoes the style of the streetwear label and retains the spirit of the 1990s classic with a bit of modern flair added in for good measure. Kar and his team first decided to remove the top for good and make this car a true roadster, while the distinctive rear end was inspired by the Porsche Speedster.

Custom Shade

The taillights have been completely redesigned as well and feature "KAR" lettering, which has also been used on L'Art sunglasses in the past. With all of the exterior custom touches wrapped out, the team at L'Art developed a special shade of green just for this particular project.

Other Contributors

TAG Heuer, Recaro, and Bose all contributed to the interior, which features a one-off TAG Heuer stopwatch in the dashboard, custom Recaro bucket seats covered with bespoke leather from ECCO Leather EL3, and a custom-designed Bose audio system integrated into the interior of the 968 L’ART including innovative speaker placements and elegant grille designs.

Corresponding Collections

To celebrate the 968 L'ART, the label is teaming up with Porsche to launch two different capsule fashion collections. One is produced by L’Art De L’Automobile, while an exclusive air freshener was also created in collaboration with the cosmetics brand Byredo. The second capsule fashion collection, produced by Porsche, consists of six pieces and can be purchased in selected Porsche Centers.
