Manthey Performance Makes 911 GT3 Even Faster
This fortified 992 911 GT3 is much faster around the ring than a stock unit.
Impressive Result
Manthey has been making fast Porsche vehicles even faster for a number of years now, efforts aided by the automaker itself and the Manthey-Racing GmbH team. The company has been running GT works competition for Porsche Motorsport since 2013, and also organizes the VLN class Cayman GT4 Trophy, while Porsche holds a majority stake in it, too. Recently, Manthey released its new performance kit for the 992 911 GT3, and proceeded to use it to set a seriously impressive lap time at the Nurburgring.

Various Upgrades
Manthey's performance kit for the 992 GT3 starts with an aerodynamic package that includes a new front lip/splitter, flics, a rear diffuser, a carbon fiber rear wing, and aerodiscs for the rear wheels. Underneath, the car is fitted with Manthey's four-way adjustable suspension, lightweight OM-1 wheels, and an upgraded brake kit with new lines and pads.

Major Improvement
Manthey is located right near the Nurburgring, so it obviously takes advantage of that by doing a ton of testing at the iconic track, which it uses to perfect its offerings like this one. In fact, in initial testing, the fortified 911 GT3 shaved a whopping 17 seconds faster than its predecessor, a truly impressive result.

Seriously Impressive
Last year, Manthey set a lap time of 6:43.3 in its own modified 911 GT2 RS, but wound up piloting the new GT3 around the North Loop in an even more impressive 6:55.737 - 4.19 seconds faster than its powerful predecessor. That's truly an incredible feat, particularly when we consider that this car makes no more horsepower than the stock version.

Working Together
Porsche and Manthey worked together to develop these components, which helps explain how the GT3 - with roughly 200 less horsepower - can be so much faster than the GT3 around the 'ring. A little more downforce and other aero magic makes a big difference and is combined with a total of 16 pounds of weight savings.

Stiffer, yet Usable
Spring rates are also 10 percent higher in the front and 7 percent more in the rear over stock, making the ride a bit stiffer, though Manley maintains that its kit is still very much usable in real-world conditions on real roads.

Limited Availability
Manthey's performance kit for the 992 911 GT3 costs €37,911 ($38,500 USD), but sadly, isn't available in the U.S. - at least for now. The kit, which is available to purchase in Europe through any Porsche Center, may soon also be sold in the states, which would make it a pretty enticing yet pricey buy for anyone looking to shave a few seconds off their lap times.
