Stunning Display

Porsche and colors have long shared a cozy relationship, with the former offering customers a wide array of the latter - and even more, via the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program. Thus, as it continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary, it's no surprise that Porsche's Brand Communications Department in Zuffenhausen recently created a stunning array of art showing off the relationship between its sports cars and the colors that have adorned them for decades.

Driven by Dreams

"For the 75th anniversary, we looked back of course, but we also looked to the future," said Jürgen Aigner, one of the lead creatives behind the project. "And we wanted to bring all this together, involving all of Porsche's markets and subsidiaries, from the Museum and Exclusive Manufaktur to the international Porsche clubs and fans of the brand. So, for 2023 we rolled out the concept of 'Driven by Dreams,' communicating our brand purpose as our motto."

Unique Pairings

This particular project started by focusing on a total of eight colors that Porsche considers to be the "heroes" of its lineup. That group includes hues like Ruby Stone, Speed Yellow, Neptune Blue, Lava Orange, and Forest Green, each of which was then paired with a sports car from Porsche's past or present, transposed into a textural setting.

The resulting lineup is quite interesting to take in visually - it includes a 356 with a Strawberry Red swirl to reference Porsche's early days and the great American drive-in, along with a Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo swimming in a Neptune Blue sea, and of course, an orange Carrera GT.

Poking Fun

Then there's a Forest Green 911 Turbo placed among geometric patterns that were influenced by reptilian skin, but one of these creations stands above the rest thanks to its humor and perhaps even the fact that Porsche is poking a little fun at itself - a 996-gen 911 adorned by a fried egg, which is a nod toward the car's controversial headlight design.

Eye Catching

This "Dream In Full Color," exhibit as Porsche calls it, has since rolled out worldwide via digital marketing campaigns, and even recently illuminated the Shanghai Skyline in China with a variety of colors. Among the many ways Porsche is celebrating 75 years of making sports cars, it's certainly the most eye-catching, if nothing else.

Bright and Varied

"Everything we do has to be absolutely authentic to the brand," Aigner said "Porsche has always been colorful, with these distinctive shades across the decades. 'Dream in full color' reflects not only Porsche's vibrant choice of colors, but also its courage and innovation over the years. Colors became a proxy for Porsche’s bravery in our communications, simply because no other sports car company has dared use such a bright and varied palette.”
