This article applies to the Porsche 993 (1993-1998).

Fog lights help you see the road during poor weather conditions, such as snow, rain, and fog. These lights also come in handy during dusty conditions. You can use fog lights in tandem with or instead of headlights. Replacing them yourself is fairly simple. The easiest way to do it is to remove the fog light assembly from the studs, and then attach the new fog light assembly to the stock studs. Keep in mind that your new fog lights will come with new studs, so you'll have to remove these new studs before installation.

Materials Needed

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • 8mm socket
  • Ratchet
  • New fog lights

Step 1 – Unscrew plastic pieces on either side of fog light

Use a flat head screwdriver to remove transparent plastic keeper and plastic bumper on either side of fog light. You're essentially removing the signal lights in order to access the fog lights.

Step 2 – Unscrew the fog light assembly

Use a flat head screwdriver to unscrew the fog light assembly. Don't let it dangle from the wires, instead, let it rest on something to avoid wire breakage.

Step 3 – Unplug wire connector

Unplug the wire connector in the back of the fog light. You simply need to squeeze the connector and pull it apart.

Step 4 – Replace the bulb

You can either unplug the bulb from the old fog light assembly by turning it counter clockwise, or use a new bulb for the new fog light assembly.

Step 5 – Re-install the fog light

Install the wire connector, then install the fog light assembly the same way you removed the old one. Tighten the screws, then install the signal light and screw it in place.
