Porsche 997: How to See Which ECU Your Car Has

Periodic software updates are issued out by Porsche; here's how to check which ECU version your car has.

This article applies to the Porsche 911 997 (2005-2012).

Porsche 997's are equipped with a PCM which stands for Porsche Communication Management. The PCM is the control center for audio, navigation, and communication functions associated with your 911. This system needs to be updated to the current version in order to function correctly. Here's the one step process to check your PCM.

Step 1 – Hold down the main and trip buttons simultaneously

With the vehicle on, locate the Main and Trip buttons on the navigation unit. Once you have located them, hold them both down at the same time, and the information on your system will come up on the navigation screen.

The information it displays on the screen will include which software version is installed on your car.
