Custom Porsche 930 Gets Several Modern Updates
It isn't every day we see a modified 930, but this one is rather tasteful.
Ultimate 930?
These days, the Porsche 930 Turbo has become a highly sought-after collector's item, the kind of car that you leave stock and reap the rewards, er, profits. However, there are still a few brave souls out there that prefer to modify their air-cooled, turbocharged 911s, a group that includes the owner of this beauty - Eri Alleyne - who wanted to build the ultimate 930, as he recently explained to MotorTrend.

Keep It Original
Amazingly, Alleyne owned this 911 for 20 years before he decided it was time to rip into it. "As custom parts became available, I decided to start customizing the car, yet keeping the original look," he explained. "I wanted to give it a modern look without going over the top."

Massive Rollers
To that end, he didn't go crazy in any regard, simply enhancing what was already there. That process started by filling the wide fenders with a set of 18x11 Fuchs wheels wrapped with 275/30 Michelin Cup 2 Connect tires, which fit perfectly thanks to some torsion bar adjustments.

Mostly Stock
The same goes for the interior, which is mostly original but does feature a few aftermarket upgrades including a flat-bottom Momo steering wheel, Rennline footplates and pedals, and a Mark Hargett shifter kit.

Power Boost
Under the hood, this 930 has received quite a few upgrades for its flat-six, including Rebel S Racing engine mounts, Mahle pistons, Web Racing cams, a Bosch CIS fuel pump, a Garrett GT35R turbocharger, a Kokeln intercooler and piping, a Patrick Motorsports blow-off valve, B&B Exhaust Turbo Headers, a TiAL wastegate, and a custom exhaust, a combination that churns out just over 500 horsepower. It's mated to a four-speed 915 transmission that's been fitted with a KEP billet clutch and flywheel.

Stop and Go
Underneath, a set of Bilstein shocks and Elephant Racing bushings help put that power to the ground and keep the 911 glued to the road in corners, while a set of PAGID RS pads and steel braided lines beef up the braking system just a tad.

Personal Masterpiece
In the end, Alleyne's quest to make his 930 his own paid off in a big way, and even though some purists may not exactly be thrilled, he certainly is. "This build has been a labor of love, which made it fun," he said. "It wasn't to win races or to be a track monster, but it does hold its own - that's just what Porsches do. If you ever get the chance to drive one of these masterpieces, go for it!"
