The Manthey Touch

Manthey Performance has been churning out all sorts of upgraded parts and accessories for various Porsche models for years now, many of which are endorsed by the automaker itself. Now, owners of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS can give their sports cars the Manthey touch as well, courtesy of a brand-new and rather comprehensive kit.

Doubling Downforce

On the outside, the Manthey kit for the Cayman GT4 RS adds a host of aerodynamic upgrades including front flaps and air curtains, new wheel arches, a Gurney flap, a carbon underbody with diffusers, and a four-way adjustable 85mm wider rear wing that features a new wing blade and larger endplates to nearly double the car's downforce at 200 km/h.

Other Tweaks

From there, Manthey added a carbon-weave finish to the rear engine cover so that it can withstand these higher aerodynamic forces, while the rear wheel aerobics are also made of CFRP. These reduce the turbulence around the rear of the car and can be customized with an optional decorative film, too.

Optional Goodies

The Manthey GT3 RS kit can also be spec'd with a unique CFRP piece, which attaches to the standard rear spoiler and further increases downforce on the rear axle by around four percent. Other options include wheel arch vent louvers with a carbon-weave finish in the front wings, which match the look of the Weissach package.

Suspension Upgrades

Underneath, Manthey gave the 718 Cayman GT4 RS a specially-developed coilover suspension with an inverted setup, with four-way adjustable struts as well as rebound and compression settings that can also be adjusted without any tools and 20 percent stiffer spring rates The chassis is available in two versions - both for cars with and without a front lift system.

Braking Power

Steel brake lines are also included as a way to guarantee a precise pressure point, ensuring optimal braking power delivery. Meanwhile, special racing brake pads with particularly constant friction behavior over a wide temperature range are available as an option. Inside the cabin, illuminated door sill guards with the Manthey logo are available as an option, as are towing loops designed especially for the track.

Big Upgrade

All of these goodies make a pretty massive difference in the performance of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, even without any sort of power increase. In fact, Porsche managed to lap the Nurburgring in this special machine 6.179 seconds faster than its stock counterpart, with a time of 7:03.121 minutes. Those interested in purchasing the kit can do so this December - at least in the U.S. and Europe - with other markets set to follow in the ensuing months.
